An Inclusive Spiritual Home for All

Located in the heart of Oak Ridge, just outside of Knoxville in East Tennessee, the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge (JCOR) is home to a vibrant and welcoming Jewish community.

Founded in 1943 upon Conservative practices, JCOR is an unaffiliated synagogue. Today we include many ways to worship and celebrate our heritage with respect toward individual religious choices.

JCOR is composed of members with many differing theological views and varying degrees of ritual observance, all linked by a common desire to support a strong Jewish presence in our community.

If you are looking for a warm and inviting congregation to call home, we would love to welcome you. You’ll find friendly people, meaningful worship services, plus many social, educational and cultural activities.

For more information about services, events or membership, please contact us at 865-483-3581 or by email at office@jcor.info.

The Shul

Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge, Tennessee building exterior

Sitting on the corner of W. Madison Lane and Michigan Avenue, at 101 W. Madison Lane in historic Oak Ridge, Tennessee, our building- the Beth El Center – was constructed by hand by our congregation and consecrated in 1952.

In the 1960s, classrooms were added, and, in 1980, a separate large social hall with a large kitchen was added allowing for larger events.

Finally, in 2008, we added a new lobby and new entrance with a walkway and wheelchair accessibility.  The Lobby is now one of our favorite places to hold potlucks, meetings, and smaller services.

Access to the sanctuary from the handicapped parking spots in the parking lot is easily accomplished using the ramp to the main lobby.
